Online Bargains Guides

A good deal rarely falls into your lap. You have to look for it. And there's no better place to hunt for bargains than the Web.

The key word is "hunt." According to the experts, it's best to continually check prices. Don't wait until the last minute; instead, be looking on a regular basis for the things you want to buy.

1. Do your research
Start with varieties of online shopping sites to get an idea of what a product is selling for. Do some of the research yourselves and scan through the sale and clearance items and pair them with rebates and other discounts offered by other online shopping sites.

2. Where to beware
Remember that online shopping sites try various strategies to get you to spend more money, i.e buy 3 get 1 free, buy 3 free shipping, etc.

3. Be flexible
Shop for the next season or the season just past, not the one that's just started.

4. Limit spending
Budget a specific amount of money and use it to shop. Perhaps with that way, it limits impulse buying. Alternatively, buy items used at online instead of new one.

5. Shop locally
Local online shopping sites may have good prices, too, without shipping costs and with easy returns.

6. Shop safely
Buying online offers convenience, but it also adds risks. You're paying upfront without directly seeing or trying on merchandis, eand you're potentially opening yourself up to identity theft. In order to reduce the risk, try go back to the online shopping sites you familiar with.

Cheers! Happy online shopping everyone ;)

Black Dresses for Your Body Type

Black dress is a must in a modern woman's wardrobe nowadays. A black dress can complements any kind of skin tone and body shape and even hide the love handles and bugles with smart using. What you have to do is just to pick a black dress that suits you so that the black dress can remains chic, elegant and classic.

Flabby Arms
You don't have to look matronly to cover up flabby arms. The trick is to keep the sexy element with embellishment or peekaboo cutouts on the little black dress. Like the longer-sleeve dress RM38 shown below from Vogue will do cover up your fatty arms nicely.

Petite
Look for a dress with a lot of shape, here it has horizontal seaming and is scaled just right for your figure. The perfect little black dress for a smaller frame elongates and flatters like this clean-lined sheath dress from Angel Glory RM49, more flattery.

Wide Shoulders
You don't need to hide your upper body in a little black dress if you have wide shoulders. Instead, look for body-balancing details like the trendy asymmetrical neckline, like the one-shoulder style from Daily Boutique RM34 and The Dressing Ruum RM32.

Unattractive Legs
Don't want to show off your legs? You can still look gorgeous in a little black dress, instead of hiding your legs in pants. Try wearing a longer skirt (midcalf or longer) like this Sexy Toga Long Maxi Dress RM38 from De Mythz.

Full Bust
Balance a top-heavy figure in a little black dress by opting for the most flattering necklines for the full bust: the V-neck, square neck, wrap or portrait style like this V-neck lace dress RM55 from Grazioso and victoria secret sexy black dress RM35 from Elegant-Extravaganza.

Slimming Tips

Weight control has always been a problem for everyone. In this article, we are here to make sure everyone can still fit into their old dresses by sharing few useful slimming tips here.

Tip 1: Water Power
Did you realise that by drinking a glass of water before you eat a meal could decrease your appetite? The result will be that you’ll have a harder time eating too much since your stomach is full of water. Besides, drink more water will keep us away from dehydration during this extreme weather.

Tip 2: Evening tea.
Join Mad Hatter’s tea party, Woooho! Why? This is similar to the first one. Often in the evenings, we’ll start feeling hungry. If you give in to this temptation, that’s where the trouble begins because it's almost guaranteed that whatever you eat in the evening will be added on as extra bodyweight since you won't have time to work off the calories consumed. So have an evening tea break and you won't be able to eat more during dinner.

Tip 3: Eat more often.
By eating five to six small to medium sized meals per day, you will prime your metabolism to burn calories faster than you would if you eat three meals a day. It will also fix the your problem so calleditchy mouth.

Tip 4: Always exercise.
It's important to engage in some form of strength training and cardio based exercise. Strength training builds lean muscle, which burns calories at a faster rate. And cardio helps to quickly burn excess calories.

Tip 5: Early big meals.
Many people eat their biggest meal in the evening. As such, your body has limited time to make use of the tremendous calorie dump from that large evening meal. You simply won't do enough physical activity in the evening as our body's biorhythm usually slows down. Those excess calories will turn into fat.

The Truth: Buyer 002

Since a few months ago, I've been receiving emails from Sista Closette, telling me about their updates, sales, etc. The thing is, I never signed up or been asked to signed up their mailing list and I didn't buy anything from them also, then how's my email will be subscribed to their mailing list?? I guess they steal or get my email from the cbox from the other blogshops where I might have inquired on some items. I understand that they want more more explosures for their blogshop, but it is ok for sending one time but not keep on continue sending even I've asked them to remove me from their mailing list (at least 2-3 times I've asked them to unsubscribe me)!!

Sista Closette, if you're reading this, please unsubscribe me for real this time, thanks ya!

Sunny Side Up: Summer Wears

Fashion is for everyone regardless you are tall, short, thin or fat. Everyone should learn how to be fashionable and looked best. It's about being inclusive, not exclusive. In this article, we will make fashion more accessible to Malaysia women, hence summer wears were chosen because of its suitability for Malaysia weather.

This season everyone loves dresses because it is slip-on-easy, go-anywhere chic and definitely more forgiving than pants and jeans.

1. Maxi Dresses - the must have this summer!
The maxi’s halter, bandeau and strap tops reveal just the right amount of flesh. The empire line accentuates the narrowest part of women's bodies thus flattering most shapes and that full-length skirt keeps any lumps and bumps well hidden. If you are short you can still wear a maxi but make sure you choose a style that skims your figure rather then swamps it. Add a pair of look-at-me heels and walk tall! Darker, single block colors will make you appear leaner and more slender than summery prints.

Tunic Black Chiffon Dress RM49 from Trendz Fashionz

Bohemia Maxi Tube Dress RM35 from De Mythz

Vintage Maxi Dress RM38 from De Mythz

2. Prom Style Dress / Tube Dress
Obviously, prom dresses are at the top of any checklist for girls' prom plans. Remember that prom dresses can also be just right for dressing up for homecoming night, holiday festivities, and other special occasions, like weddings or parties. It's all about style, elegance, and the head-turning art of creating a fashion statement.

Flowery Prom Style Dress RM39 from Straw Berry Bunga

Tube-Top Style One piece Summer Dress RM128 from Korean Fashion Station

3. Deep V Dress
Don't you know a deep V dress will surely accentuate your curve better and you will look slimmer yet elegant? Yes, indeed it is, it assures a great fit on all body shapes. You will get so much use out of the deep V dress, it perfect, yet simple, and it surely to make you look amazing, just like a classic Hollywood starlet.

Elegant Deep V Dress RM75 from Irenelim Fashion

Polka Dots Deep V Dress RM42 from Dress Forever

Now you discovered that there were more to summer wear than just mini skirts and hot pants. Aren't the dresses above are becoming lovelier by the minute? And now it's time for you to span your summer season!

The Truth: Buyer 001

Hello Defnewz,

This is May, and this is the first time I came across Defnewz (De Fashion Newz) where there's a place named The Truth for buyers / sellers to use it as a platform to show our angriness regards our bad online shopping experiences and to share our good e-shopping experiences here.

I can still clearly recall my memory back to early of Feb 2010 where I came across a blogshop named LadiesFash. I was interested to buy few items from their site that time and as usual I sent my order in. After 7 days sent in my order, yet I got no reply from them. I guess the blogshop owner was too busy to reply or miss out my order, so I resent my order in again and again.

Guess what? The LadiesFash only replied me on the fourth email I sent in on early of Mar 2010.

CM32c Pink RM25 -- available colour: green, pink (sold), blue, grey
Belt18a Black / White RM20 -- ok
Belt13a RM22 -- no more
CB27a RM15 -- no more dear
AV7 Black RM18 > no more dear, only Pink
BX1b Blue RM12 -- size?
BX2a Pink RM12 -- size?
B1a Black + White RM20 -- ok
above dear..
sorry dear,
not sure why didn't notice your previous mail T_T~~
However, I was so so so upset with their reply after my order sent in for a month plus, so I decided to pull my order back by replying them that I'm no longer interested to place my order with them.

Lastly, I hereby would like to state that everything I stated here is 100% truth and I apologize should there be anything that I said are offensive or misjudged in anyway.

The Truth: Seller 001

Hi Defnewz, we would like to be the first one to speak out for ourselves and other sellers who have come across some of the hardships that buyers put us on.

1. MIA Buyers / Backout Buyers
We've come across buyers who ask us a billion questions in few emails about one item, and then went MIA with no reason given. Yes, we know it is buyers' rights to get as much information as you could before deciding on a buying, but please do inform the sellers if you're no longer interested to have it rather than just went MIA!

Besides, there's buyers who asked for restock with their promising of no backout last minute by providing all their contact details and backout last minute when the stock has arrived, you got no ideas why you couldn't get them! You tried to contact them via email, sms or call, they just don't reply and answer you at all. To backout buyers, please be considerable on the sellers who spent their time, their efforts and their money to restock the items you requested!! What would you feel if you're one of the sellers? Be considerable please!!

2. COD Buyers
Yes, we all know some of the sellers provide COD for buyers, but not all the sellers do. Come on! This is internet / online shopping where the main mode of delivery is by postage. Please do not request unnecessary COD arrangement from those sellers who don't provide COD. Please be understandable.

3. I want it now! Buyers
We also come across with few buyers who want their order the next day after payment made. Please be understandable that most of the sellers are students or full time employed, hence it is obviously we got classes, assignments, exams or works. Hence, some sellers (which included us) only ship / send the orders out on Saturday except the first Saturday of the month (please read the terms carefully, we did remark it at our blog), so please be considerable.

Thanks you for time and consideration. Peace!!
And, thanks Defnewz for posting it up! Thanks again!

Japanese Diet Secrets

We have written in the past about the "Korean Diet Secret" on how Korean women and men stay fitness. And, in this article we will write about the "Japanese Diet Secret".

Well, if you travel to Japan, you will be shocked by how healthy and slim Japanese people are, and you will definitely see an extremely small percentage of people who are obese or over-weight and even when you do, you will see that their bodies are still nothing compared with what you will see in the United States where as many as 60% of the population has some kind of a weight problem.

Naomi Moriyama, the co-author of "Japanese Women Don't Get Old or Fat: Secrets of My Mother's Tokyo Kitchen" shared the secrets in greater details on how healthy and slim Japanese people are.

Moriyama writes in a very simple format, it is a pleasure to read her book. In her book she describes the Japanese diet along with a bit of Japanese culture.

Below are the key points of her book:
- Japanese eat small amounts of many foods in each meal. Americans eat big amounts of the same food in each meal (e.g. pasta). There is a very old saying in Japan "Hara hachi bunme" (translated as "stop eating when you are 80% full").
- Japanese cooking is very light. They use broths to flavor the food instead of heavy sauces. One of these broths is dashi - it is sold in many gourmet stores or you can make it yourself.
- Japanese eat rice, instead of bread. Rice is better than cheap bread full of sugar, though not superior to all bread.
- Japanese eat fish, vegetables, rice, soy, noodles, tea, and fruits.
- Japanese bring beauty and harmony to the dining table. They use pretty sets of small dishes with different purposes.
- Japanese eat a heavy breakfast. The breakfast in Japan is a complete meal similar to dinner, along with fish and miso soup.
- Japanese do enjoy desserts but not very often and in a smaller amount.
- Japanese walk a lot. Walking or going on a bike is very much a part of daily Japanese life, although they do manufacture a lot of automobiles. Many old buildings do not have elevators and Japanese regulation does not insist on elevators for building with up to four floors - which means, plenty of opportunities to burn calories if you live / work in one of these apartment / office buildings.

Healthy Eating for Your Diet

We all know that we are supposed to eat more fruits and vegetables during our diet. We all know that fruits and vegetables are low in calories and high in fiber, and they contains unique phytochemicals, or antioxidants, that boost your health during our diet.

But which kinds?

Well! It's important to eat a wide variety of colourful fruits and vegetables everyday, because each color contains different sets of phytochemicals that provide different health benefits.

Super Red: Pink grapefruit, red bell peppers, tomatoes and watermelon
Lycopene shows promise in fighting lung and prostate cancers. Lycopene is actually more available after cooking or processing so don't ignore canned tomato paste!

Super Purple: Concord grapes, blueberries and prunes
The anthocyanins that give these fruits their distinctive colors may help ward off heart disease by preventing clot formation. They may also help lower risk of cancer.

Super Green: Spinach, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, collard greens and bok choy
Lutein appears to reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke as well as guard against age-related macular degeneration. Dark green leafy vegetables are usually high in folate, a B vitamin that shows promising results in preventing heart diseases. In addition, Sulforaphane, a photochemical present in cruciferous vegetables, was found to detoxify cancer-causing chemicals before they do damage the body.

Super Orange: Carrots, mango, pumpkin and oranges
The beta carotenes in these orange super fruits and vegetables may prevent cancer, particularly of the lung, esophagus and stomach. They may also reduce risk of heart disease and improve immune function.

Super White: Cauliflower, mushrooms, banana and onions
These contain anthoxanthins and allicin, which can help lower blood pressure and protect against stomach cancer.

The Truth about Fashion

Fashion plays a major role in today's society. But who can keep up? There are plenty of options and trends than ever before. And, the key to looking great and shopping smart is being aware of the facts over fiction in today's styles.

In this article, we are going to share a few of the essential tips from the Woolite Fashion Forum new booklet, "Dispelling the Myths about Fashion and Fabric Care".

True or False?

1. Monotones can make you look like you shed up to 10 pounds.
True - You will look pounds thinner if you dress in one tone with just a splash of colour. Create an unbroken line by dressing in a neutral shade like black, navy or beige. Also, adding color with a bright jacket or accessories draws the eye away from your trouble spots. A neutral-toned, longer tailored jacket over a colorful tank or turtleneck can also be slimming.

2. Layers can make you look thinner.
False - This is a big mistake you make when you tie sweaters around your waist to hide your problem areas. Wearing clothing that is baggy or even too tight will accentuate heavier figures. Most women look beautiful in structured, not oversized, clothes. Fitted jackets, tops with scoop necks and blouses with ruffled edges will create a more slimming effect than layers.

3. Your Shoes and Handbags should always match.
False - This is a tale from the past. The days of matching all your accessories are over. You no longer have to worry about finding the perfect shade of green to match your green suit. Don't be afraid to pair a pink clutch when wearing black stilettos. The spring is going to be filled with bright accessories so take a chance on color this season.

Overweight or Underweight?

A lot of people think they're overweight even though they aren't. Just because you don't measure up to a supermodel doesn't mean you're bigger than you should be! In fact everybody should have some body fat.

How to get to know whether you are overweight or underweight? Calculate your BMI!

The Body Mass Index (BMI) is a measurement tool that compares your height to your weight and gives you an indication of whether you are overweight, underweight or at a healthy weight for your height.

Calculate your BMI by entering your height and weight below and find out whether you are overweight?

BMI Categories:
* Underweight = <18.5
* Normal weight = 18.5 - 24.9
* Overweight = 25 - 29.9
* Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

If the BMI-test shows that you are overweight (a BMI number exceeding 25) you should consider doing something about it for the sake of your health.

** This test is meant as a guide only, and should not replace a visit to your doctor to discuss weight problems. The BMI test should not be used by body-builders as the weight of the extra muscles could interfere with the calculation.
